The femoral artery is the principal supply to the anterior compartment of the thigh, as well as the rest of the lower limb. It gives off 3 superficial and 3 deep branches in the femoral triangle.



Superficial branches are:
  1. Superficial external pudendal
  2. Superficial epigastric
  3. Superficial circumflex iliac
Deep branches are:
  1. Profunda femoris: It is the largest branch of the femoral artery - also the chief artery to supply all 3 compartments of the thigh.  Its branches are a) Medial circumflex femoral artery b) Lateral circumflex femoral artery, and c) Four perforating arteries
  2. Deep external pudendal
  3. Muscular branches
